Two weekends ago I made a trip up to Virginia to plant some Biologic Biomaxx plots for this year. The farm we hunt is full of these little critters and the landowner has requested we take as many as possible. Mainly because they den under the barns and weaken the whole support structure of these old buildings when digging the tunnels. I made two stalks with the Martin X-200 and rightfully should have taken the shots both times but wanted to push the envelope and see how close I could get. Both times I was within the 15 yard mark. Yeah it amazed me too that I could get that close, but then again I have been told I slightly resemble a groundhog. ;D At the third appearance the landowner politely asked me to quit playing around and break out the big guns. So out comes the new Synergy XT. I recieved a slight dismayed look of disbelief and doubt. The final stalk I was on the wrong side of the fence and could only get to within 45 yards. I patiently watched the minature grizzly flattened out on the ground grazing on clover. Finally the moment I was waiting for happened. A car came by on the dirt road about 100 yards away. The ground hawg stood up on it hind legs to get a better view of the area. I draw the bow and settled the 40 yard pin on the top of his head and lightly touch the trigger of the mamba sending the GoldTip on its way. And that is the end of the story. Good Night.

Nice shootin Tex. Help that farmer out as much as you can and he will return the favor with some great land to hunt. Enjoy the practice.

His initial response was thats never gonna work. As soon as the chuck did a cartwheel he yelled no freaking way!!! He took the picture as well for me. The landowner is kinda like my surrogate dad. When I was a kid he took time out of his schedule to mentor my cousin Roy and myself. He was one of teh biggest influences in my life and I could never thank him enough for all he did. My real dad was to busy with himself to take time out for me but that happens when kids have kids I guess.
