I have more but we'll get to that later!
well, we were on our first tour around the property and Redsoxboy had layed a great big judo chop down on a steller ram. we had moved on and were looking for a pig we wanted to take.
I looked up the hill and saw a few small russians running around with a really nice red ferral boar. I decided to make a move for him and asked BT to back me up. He made the comment that he really liked the boar as well and we decided to split up, hopefully giving one of us a chance at this pig. He was toting his recurve and I had my longbow. I quickly realized that BT was going to get a shot as the boar made his way within 20yds or so of him. Cougarkid had the camera and I had him move to get the action on film. Bt made the shot and the boar headed our way. It was a quartering away shot, so it looked to me as if the pig was hit farther back then intended. The boar closed to 20yds and I got ready for a finishing shot, he started to turn broadside and toppled. BT's arrow had come up foreward and into the beasts heart. Try as he might try and convince you all he was doing me a "favor", he liked this pig as much as I did and it weighed over 500#'s. I would have been just as happy to shoot this one. Now we are all pumped and I was on the prowl. I could feel the excitement and adrenaine dumping into my veins, I was starting to get into full out predator mode. Here piggy, piggy, piggy! I did have a few concerns about my equipment. I was shooting a 49# longbow with a 430grain arrow and 4 blade head. BT was shooting 11#'s more, a recurve, 50grains heavier and a 2 blade head. with only 12" of penetration from his rig......would I have enough? He kept telling me to relax and it will do the job.....I took his word and moved on. We eased down a trail and came to a low area next to a swamp. there were 8 or so pigs feeding around and doing whatever pigs do. I immediatly noticed a large red boar in the middle of them, I looked at BT and we decided he was a pig worth going after. I got tunnel vision and focused soley on that boar as i moved closer with my guide by my side and camera man in tow. I had my arrow nocked and tension on the string as we closed in. At some point, it dawned on me that the other crew, with my father, Rayzortech, and spiker were further down the trail and watching as this unfolded. I had a very sizable audiance to add the the building pressure. As I hit the 30yd mark, the boar started to look right at me and bark and growl. It was evil, gutteral and un-nerving. He knew I was there and was not happy. I really believed that he was about to charge. I closed to about 15yds and drew......a smaller pig stepped in the way and I let down. I waited and watched for my chance. The boar took 2 steps and looked away. Before i know it my Razorshark tipped arrow is on it's way and it finds it's mark. The arrow passes through and onlt the nock is holding it in. The boar hunched up and starts to walk away with huge amounts of blood pumping from both holes. I wait for him to fall, but he isn't going down. I nock another arrow as he starts to trot at 30yds, quartering away. I shoot.........just skimming under his ribcage. He stops dead on his feet.....but on his feet none the less. I shoot again puching 5" of shaft into his shoulder muscle. He stumbles and still has yet to fall. He came back down the hill and finally his back legs give out. It felt like hours but took place in just a few moments. The shrew had slain the boar. My first kill with the super shrew, my first with any longbow and only my second with trad gear, as well as my 1st boar. It wasn't until then that I realized the size of this beast, he was pushing 600#'s. My first shot was text book. I had hit him low and foreward, punching cleanly through both lungs. I am absolutly amazed at a boars will to live. I have shot my share of deer and have never seen so much blood at the shot. I don't think a deer would have made it 15yds. I can honestly say that this was a truly awesome experience. Not only did i make a great shot on an amazing hog, but my friends and family were there to share it all with me. Stay tuned because there is a LOT more to come on this thread. This hunt turned out to be a trip that no one will ever forget........

No!? ....really!?! ;D Truth be told , I was worried that he would get away and I had no way of knowing that there were better hogs in those woods. It all worked as planed with the hog being turned toward skipmaster in the event of a wound. I saw the hog as willing to turn back down the ridge in front of me which would have left both of us @ 30 yards with hard quartering shots. It was totally an assumption on my part but when the hog was struck there was only one way that he would go and that was away from me and toward Skipmaster. It was just fortunate that the hog was mortally wounded and did not require the follow up at such a close range as skipmaster would have had , had not the arrow done it's job.

When we arrived at the diner I met with all the others that we would be hunting with.Everyone was nice but Lockmaster was my favorite person of them all. The whole ride was about 7 hours with pit stops. When we got to the lodge I started to warm up and found that my sights were off pretty bad The ride had knocked them out But I took a few minutes to adjust them and then I was ready to hunt. When I got into the woods it didn't take me long to find what I wanted to shoot. It was a Big Barbados Ram My brother Cougarkid had shot one before me and I liked how it looked and tasted. Thats what made me want to take it.i stalked up on the ram as quietly as i could. Finally i drew back half way and my dad started to loudly and obnoxiously whistle. That made the ram look up at me . Then i put my pin a little bit behind the rams shoulder and released with perfect form. The ram bolted forward but only made it ten yards before collapsing. A large Ram from another group ran over to the dead ram and head butted it so hard that it hide ripped off the back of its head But that was o.k. because I was going to have the skull mounted anyway. Then the guide scattered the rams away and then i saw my first animal taken with a bow up close.I took the ram with a Martin cougar mag 3 with cx100's. For a broad head I used Wasp boss bullet, 75 grains I missed the heart but it still went down quickly.

Skipmaster was looking for a real challenge and the Guide was happy to give it to him. Here we see skipmaster at the ready , longbow in hand as the Guide (Fred) prepares to release the hog Actually this was an orphaned piglet that the guides caught. This little guy could move! It took four people to catch this little guy and it took a good amount of time to boot
