Anyone been to Goldmine Hunting Preserve in Midland NC? I am considering a hunt there in March. I definitely will take as many pictures as I can and bring back a report if no one else has been there. My dad went there a few years ago but they hunted with rifles. I talked to the owner, Gerald Almond, a few weeks back and he was very pleasant to talk with. He indicated that bow hunters are very welcome.

Anyone been to Goldmine Hunting Preserve in Midland NC? Nope , I haven't been. I'll be interested in hearing the specs. on this place. Did you get an acreage estimation for the hunt area? Feral or Russians or a mix? Any better goats like Aoudad and such?

Here is the link: www.goldminehuntingpreserve.comAccording to the website they have : BLACKBUCK ANTELOPE, AOUDAD SHEEP, BUFFALO (bison), IBEX, JAVELINA, ORYX, OTHERS BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS. CALL FOR DETAILS. I'll find out for sure but from the pics on the site looks like they have Russians and Ferals. The used to have fallow and Sika but NC cranked down on the imports of deer due to CWD. I'll definitely check on the acreage and let you know when I make the reservations. I was looking for a mouflon but I have not really made up my mind. I would like to complete the Texas Slam but... I saw ol Uncle Ted lay a whack down on a monster Aoudad and have been think about one of them, then there is the black buck don't have one of those and the oryx... So many animals so little time

That is the one animal I really do want to take with a recurve if at all possible. They are near impossible with a compound....I would love to give it a try with a stick

Currently they do not have shootable balckbuck or Aoudad at this time. Not sure what the definition of shootable is but I intend to ask. Gerald said they have several hundred acres they hunt which is broken into two parts; the regular area and a record book area. I can imagine hunting the Aoudad with a stick bow. Everyone has told me that they are super spooky but I have not had the pleasure or pursuing them YET.

Preserves are for sticks.....at least IMO. Adds alot to the chase and the chance. Good way to get skunked too

Yeah there is another one in the in the gallery that looks huge.
Tshark, I am definitely going there in March. Mainly because it is close, only about 2 and half hours from me. I will definitely let you know what it is like.
I'm very tempted to take the longbow but not so sure my confidence level is there yet. I still have a few weeks though.
