It's been raining alot here lately but what can you do?.....hunt! I truly hate rain gear at this time of year since you either get wet or bake inside the better outer wear. I personally wont bother dressing for it other than to wear a Tee and light pants. I can change at lunch and after the sun goes down to get some comfort and between those times I doubt very much that I will be aware of the rain should it be raining at all. That being said....the one thing that is going to come with the rain is insects. As well as hogs can smell....I am concerned with having a no-scent spray that will withstand rain......as if there is such a thing Rain proof shoes are the most important thing. You will be doing alot of walking most likely and trench foot is going to be a very real buzz kill if you put yourself in that situation

Something else.... Actual field gear. Don't come equipped for a safari! I have seen a hog take 6 arrows and heard of as many as a dozen but it's rare. Plan on bringing 2 of whatever can break and a dozen arrows. A dozen arrows allows you to bust a few on the target (that can happen) lose a few to bad shots ( that can happen) And then have a few for your pig (that does happen alot) with 9 arrows accounted for, that leaves 3 for spare and thats all you are going to need in the worst case scenario as laid out here. Think about brush and throwing your bow to get to a tree and what could happen to your bow in that scenario. Does it happen?.....yes it does and you wont be thinking of laying your bow down if you get charged After the hog has departed (if it does) what will have likely broken? Thats what you need to bring!. Cameras! ..... bring plenty of film or disc space. If this is your first hog hunt you will want to preserve the moment and share it for years. Don't go cheap! Also.....dont get in a rush when taking those pics. Last year I dumped a great hog and in all the excitement of continuing on....I didn't get one Pic. IMO you should have at least 30 pictures to weed through because in the end.....if you miss a good shot on the ground....you'll never get another opportunity.

Ok, I think I'm the only one here who doesn't have a big knife . All I've got is my 3.5" Buck w/ gut hook and 2.5" Benchmade pocket knife. I feel a little undergunned for self defense. Anybody got a bigger blade I can borrow?

Talked with Mark today and he is still concern with this one boar ;D Skipmaster and I will be knocking each other over to get the opportunity to be run over by this beast! Mark says there are plenty of hogs in the 200# range and five that are 300# + He said that although they were planning on going out saterday...he would act as guide if we really wanted to get out Friday. So....do we all head out Saturday or just attack the place however we can?. My youngest son wants to come with the rifle (his pet) but it's not a 100% go yet. Probably wont know till the night before. This is gonna be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
