I think I may just have to "check out" DD Ranch in southeast Ohio. Especially since it's 70 miles away from Columbus I would go after a ram. Will the rams be in decent shape, horn and cape wise, in January/February? If not, when would be the best time to chase sheep?

Doegirl, The horns on a ram will really never change. If they crack or break a piece out signs will always be there of that since they never shed their horns. The cape however is a different story. In the colder months the mane will usually be at its fullest and the hide should of course be fuller. But some people like the sleek look without the mane. So I guess its really your preference. I like hunting in cooler weather mainly because its more enjoyable for me. Little of or no bugs and dont have to worry about spoilage. I have not been to this place but they seem to have a large selection of rams. www.whiteoakhunting.com/guarantee.aspHope that helps some.
