Do want a release that is a rope release or a release that is for a D-loop on you string

I use the Tru-Ball Cyclone and I like it very much, but most caliper releases work well with loops. In my opinion, when it comes to releases it's just a personal preference. There are several brands that have models designed especially for d-loops with a hook on the end. Tru-fire has one, Tru-Ball has one, and I believe Scott has one. I would advise, if possible go to an archery shop and try several. Go to several shops if that is an option.
I like the one I have due to the adjustability. I have it shortened so I can shoot a 30" D/L with a loop and release. I can also fold it out of the way when I need two hands. Price can also play a part as some are kinda pricey, but, in my opinion, you get what you pay for. That's another reason I like Tru-Ball because they are not as expensive as some but are very high quality releases.

I've used a Scott Mongoose for years and it does the job pretty well.

I would not suggest a free flight release for hunting. It is a good release but it gets in the way while trying to hunt ( use calls, climbing into your stand, loading arrows, etc.....) I went to the TRU-FIRE 360 Elite and so far I like it allot. It is adjustable in length and the trigger is adjustable. It folds back out of the way and has smooth release.
