Now before you all go crazy ;D,this is a free landowner
opening day 6:00 shot with a rifle.Trust me I could never
have taken him with my Mustang.Like they said in the
movie JAWS "your going to need a bigger bow--t" ;D.I
spent the night before trying to figure out what time I
had to do things.Day light savings really was messing up
my head
.I had notes all over the kitchen table.I have
to do this and that 
:-/I wanted to be in my stand
earlier than I have bene all bow season.I was reading
Deer and deer hunting mag.and one article mentioned
that big bucks are going to bed just about the time most
people are going into their stands.I am a firm believer
that if you stand any chance at a mature buck you only
have a very small window early in the season.I think things
were just getting going in my area in the last day or two.I
have seen very few scrapes and only small rubs.But remember
little bucks make little rubs but big bucks do both.I have
not seen any big rubs but have not beat the place up looking
eather.My plan was to sit then still hunt and scout.I got up
at 3:45 tried to leave house by 4:35 to be at tree stand by
5:00.I had moved the tree lounge about 30 yards from the
deer trail I got the 2.5 buck the week before.I had seen deer
60-75 yards away many times with the bow so wanted to
split the differance.My Wife was working late(Union President)
and in negotiations for her school.My plan was to sit till 10:00,
still hunt for an hour go home and eat then sit in anouther
stand till dark
Ya right ;D.I got up in the tree by 5:30
and tied into the tree (I only started wearing the harness bow
hunting)I said if I fall my wife and Andy will kill me
.The tree
lounge is like a bed.I'm sitting and about 6:00 just light enough
to shoot I think I hear somthing.But can't see anything.I
hear it again and turn to my right and see a deer,thats a big
deer,it comes over a stone wall and I see horns. WOW
thats a nice buck.He walks to my right about 70 feet away and
freaks out
.I don't know what he sensed but he almost fell
down turning and running.I am still laying in the tree lounge.He
jumps the wall behind me and my heart is sinking slowly in
my chest.There's no way I can pull this off.I turn in the lounge
get on my knees and get hung up in the theater that is on
the tree.Some how I got the gun under all the straps and
he was walking away.I found him in the scope and in one sec.
he was quartering away put it behind the left shoulder and
BANG.from the time I saw him to the shot 10-15 sec.He
went out of there like a race horse leaving me standing there
with my mouth open :PWOW I hope I didn't screw that up.I
thought I heard him crash but with a 7MM Mag they show that
they are hit.The mind go's blank but I did a replay and I said
to myself his tail was tucked in tight.I think you hit him.I sat
for 10 min. then slowly climbed down.I started to walk over
the little hill and saw white and brown 50 yards away THANK
YOU LORD was heard loud and clear ;D.I walk up and said
thats a nice buck.As I get up I say WOW I think thats
the buck that his drop popped the tractor tire.Yes-yes- it is
what a MONSTER.*=8 points chocolate brown,and not a scratch
PERFUCT.This deer we have never seen,never got on a cam.
The neighbor harrowed up his shead this spring 3/8 of a mile
from here.And he shows up at my tree with in min. of
opening day and I get him!!!! 10 million to one odds

.Now I'm saying what time is it (day light
savings still has me all screwed up. Can I call the wife?
yes she is still home"I got that big deer I have bene after"
She says congratulations "I think I won the pool at work with
the Yankees winning in the 9th.$18.00 :-[Next I say I need to
get pictures before I do anything.I walked back to my son's
neighbor and on the way jumped 3 deer.Made some phone calls
and came back with the big tractor and my camera crew ;D
I loaded him in the truck "your gonna need a bigger truck" ;D
and went to register it.Go on line and I get the 2 bow bucks
Call DEP and ask whats going on.I give her my numbers
and she says we don't have you with a free land owner permit.
I say are you kidding me.I'm looking at my lic in my hand.I
have bow,free land ,privet rifle,muzzle loader and fishing.
She says I'll call you back.When I got home every thing was OK.
Next I need to get him on a scale.I go to one friend and he
tells me my buddy with the elect hoist has 2 hanging and just
went bird hunting.I go to anouther buddy and after much work
raising his hoist so it wasn't draging on the ground we got him
weighed 201
.I said to my Wife every time you work late and
I make plans to hunt all day I get a buck "You need to work
more overtime" ;D.
The bottom line is if it wasn't for me being totally tuned in
after 6 weeks of bow hunting I could NEVER have pulled this
off.I was a lean mean hunting machine.And used 45 years of
deer hunting to get my best personal buck and I think a VERY
good deer for Conn.I think he is very old.His front teeth are
nubs,and he has a chipmunk cheek that at first I thought was
from his thick neck but it is hard and might be tooth problems.
He has lots of fat.I was on the phone and said this ones
going on the wall.Behind me I here NOT MY WALL ;D. Still
working on that ;D
