BT and I decided to have matching "his and hers" bows. We are close to draw length and I (with this new bow) have no problem shooting his draw weight. We went through the internet surfing various manufacturers and irregardless of previous brand loyalties, we went simply by our needs. By process of elimination, which involved a five point must have check list. This checklist included the following: 1. Speed 2. Overall ATA 3. Brace Height 4. Cam cycle and 5. Bow mass weight. We could not find a bow that matched exactly our specifications, but we came close. We came to a shocking conclusion. The Mathews Z7Xtreme. Welcome to the Darkside ;D With the Z7, I can break over 60lbs, a first for me. A gain of over 10lbs draw weight from my Destroyer. I'm just as fast with more KE due to the heavier shaft. And smooth is not sufficient enough of a term to describe the draw cycle. This bow is dead in hand and very well balanced. Mathews has pleasantly suprised BT and I. This is one of the better bows we've had in our hands in a very long time.

I would like to point out that when Doegirl first chose her Destroyer, she had only one criteria and that was speed. While I am a real speed freak myself, I can pull well over what any bow manufacturer offers in weight or cam cycle. Doegirl has not the physical means of off setting poor design of the cam cycle with sheer brute force. So... When she selected the Destroyer, She had indeed purchased the upper end of the speed bows BUT she could not operate that bow over 50#. At 50# there is only so light an arrow that can be made toward IBO...and there are not any good arrows available that make the IBO standard for weight (when spined properly) at 50# for her draw length. So... The Destroyer limited her to achieving nothing more than a moderately fast arrow. With the Z7Extreme, the cam cycle was so vastly improved, that she was able to increase the draw weight 10# without undue physical stress. This allows her to now surpass the spine rating via bow weight and therefore, hit an IBO standard. Here is the real kicker though... She will now have a (rated) 330 IBO bow that will send a arrow down range faster and flatter than a 350 IBO rated bow.

You guys like the shorter ATA of the Extreme, rather than the regular z7? The 28" ATA draws smother than the 30"? Just asking.

We did not try the "regular flavored" Z7. I did not realize I was shooting such a short ATA bow until well after we were done shooting. It does not feel, nor shoot, like a short axle bow. It just feels "bigger". BT was impressed by the draw cycle and even more so when I could draw back 60lbs. He asked if 80lb limbs were available That's how smooth and easy this bow's draw cycle is

Now we're talking. That would be a sinister rig.

I am confused...Mathews is considered the "dark side"? I could have already told you they were the best bows in the world...smoothest draw, best build quality, etc. Glad you found what suited you best.
