there has been a monkey on my back for a couple of years now....still trying to land my first deer..... the monkey has turned into a big ole silver back gorilla...previous years i might have seen one here or there but never could get a shot off.... this year that has changed ...opening day a little 4 pt comes in and offers a perfect broad side at 12 yards so i draw and put my pin on him and let him walk....1st goal accomplished i had never gotten to draw on a deer before......next deer comes in the next day its a doe and she is skittish...comes in to about 15 yards and never offers a good shot... i just wont take a quartering to...so she walks out to 30 and i release an arrow and she jumps my string...uggg....next deer comes in from behind me from down wind and comes in to about six yards i could stand up so i drew and shot and the bottom limb of my bow comes crashing down on my knee its a clean miss and i learned several valuable lessons one of them is to keep your quiver easy to get to because she stepped right back out to me but now i cant get to an arrow quick enough so i at this point i am livid with myself.....next valuable lesson stay in stand WITH BOW until dark ...so i lower my bow down to ground to head back to truck because i am frustrated with myself....bow hits ground and here come the same two does both stop at about 15-20.....uhhhggggg.... so i have a friend who has a small piece of property that is just loaded with deer we call it the Petting Zoo... i go over there and just as planned here come the deer... 20 yards perfect broad side i shoot and my arrow leaves a gaping hole there is blood everywhere but it runs into a neighbors yard that wont let us retrieve deer....yes i said it right wont let us....i dont even know how the deer makes it that far because there are buckets of blood.....so we set up again same day and here they come again same thing happens ...now this guy that wont let us retrieve the deer only owns about 10 acres and is about 100 yards from where we hunt but its just where the wounded deer like to run out of about 80 acres thats where they run....so yesterday i go back for one more try and here come the deer another broad side shot looks like i have taken out at least 1 if not both lungs and it still gets to this guys property now i am really frustrated ....i am wondering if bow hunting is just not for me... i think i will probably have to have this gorilla surgically removed from my back....i feel worse now than i did when i wasnt getting any shots this is just frustrating as you can see from the time of this post im not hunting this morning
