BT, I know a bowyer that will make #70 lb recurves in 58 inches and shorter. They may make an 80 pounder if you call them. They are $680. Does that sound like anything you're interested in?

I had a hard time finding anyone willing to build heavy bows, seems most quit about 70, hill makes them to 200#, but they're longbows, I believe shafer still makes recurves heavy, but I just make my own, but they're longbows too, well hybrids really..........Good luck with your quest.

Well BT, you've been around this business long enough to know the ill effects to your body some say go along with shooting heavy bows, so I'll leave that up to you , you're the best judge of your body, so if you can safely.. do!, the two major problems I have found are... 1. finding tough arrows, the same style arrow stuck in a tree by 50#'s would probably be destroyed by 80, I have found axis and beeman mfx's when footed by a piece of 1 1/2" 2018 (for the 340's), are the toughest I have found by far, followed by Carbon Express heritage, no scientist but I have shot my share of trees, rocks, concrete blocks, stainless sillohettes, and even my wife's new tire, lol ....have yet to break a footed axis yet, other than by shooting it with another arrow. Problem #2... You have to pull all your own arrows! ....You'll find out pretty quick that your friends don't like being showed up by a scrawny little arrow that won't budge with all their great strength, kinda funny to watch though, but be quick, they'll soon give up,lol, lol Oh and one other thing.... fingers get sore pretty fast shooting those kinda weights, but I only use 2 fingers split, I ended up making my own cordovan tipped glove, and now they don't bother me at all.....

Thanks and your right....I know. My elbow has been going for years but although extremely painful for the first three shots....it then fades away. That's a big thing , warm up....I have to do it or I can really hurt myself in that area. This 70# is pretty easy for the first 40 shots or so but towards 60 the bow arm bicep starts letting me know that it's there Maybe I will hold off for awhile....maybe till spring.
