Two years and two bows broken This year it was the riser which suffered swelling and glue separation within the area of the shelf Fortunately.....I found a Black Swan for sale With the company still in business , I can simply order the 70# limbs to be made up and I will have two good bows @ 62# - 70# bow. I would like to get a set of 80# limbs but to be honest I will have to work on that later on. Perhaps I will finish out the year with this new bow if I am lucky enough to win it The Browning that separated saw it's final day yesterday when I made the best shot of my life (as to point of aim) on a small buck. It's as if the old bow just wanted it

Agreed C.C I talked with the owner of the black swan company and he said that most bows are only good for about 250K shots before weaknesses start showing up. That's about 3-4 years for me ;D

Two years and two bows broken This year it was the riser which suffered swelling and glue separation within the area of the shelf So, you are saying that the bow came apart at the shelf... What was the finish on the bow, do you know? Was it worn through so that weather could get in? Also, if you are picking up used bows, it is hard to say how many times they have been left in a car during hot summer days - which can have an adverse effect the glue joints in a latent manor - even if the bow is not strung at the time. Although, that usually shows up in limbs. Still, riser breaks are always interesting. When it gave it up, did it manage to smack you in the head or otherwise terrorize you?

The bow was old but still in the original packaging. It was never used and the finish was mint. A glue line separated at first sign (in the a.m. the day of the hunt) and after the shot there was a triangle break through the shelf from the outside lip to the face of the riser window. $150. and 5 or 6 animals to it's credit ..... I'll take that
