I picked up an RER Arroyo this weekend and am loving it. I am more of a longbow kind of guy but I really like this bow. It's 55# @28" and i'm pulling closer to 29". It's 60" and has no finger pinch or strack. It's really quick and quiet to boot. I played around trying to tune arrows to it and I got some good combinations but it was still grouping to the right of where I was looking. I almost always have this problem with recurves, probably because I am used to longbows that are not cut to center. I know that after shooting a bit my body adjusts and it will hit where I am looking but I wanted to be able to pick up any bow and just shoot it. I build out the strike plate with a piece of brass HIT insert and covered it with velcro... a little playing with arrows and bingo, she hits right where i am looking! Sorry about the pics, I guess going from a cool house to 90 degrees and humid fogged my camera lens.

That looks like a very nice bow! I'd like to be able to pick up any bow and shoot it perfect, too... I find I have to make friends with them first! You could be correct about shooting right... I find the same problem between two of my longbows. One being centered and the other not... What I have found to help this out a lot - take both bows out and keep track of how much you cant the bow over. It is easy for me to shoot the centered bow to the right, some times by a lot. The more you lean the upper tip to the right, the more you shoot to the right. With the bow that is not centered, I lean that bow way over! With the centered bow, I have to hold it almost straight up and down. Almost target style. If the arrow is the right spine, it is all about the cant of the bow... Let me know if you find the same to be true! PS - you are not supposed to shoot the target turkey heads off... At the range, where everyone does, we replace the head and neck with a steel cut out painted to match... Now our turkey targets last as long as they should... (Just giving you a hard time! )

SMJ, you are right. I can't cant the center cut bow at all without building out the strike plate. I like to be able to put the arrow very close to where i want it, reguardless of bow cant. My longbows allow me to do that and with the modification I can now do that with the recurve too. You never know how much you have to cant in a hunting situation! We'll see how much I actually hunt with this bow, i still prefer my longbows.....but I really like this RER and i got a good deal on it....so I jumped at it.
I like the idea of the steel plate! This one has bigger problems I need that bag behind it or I'll pass through the vitals

For those of you not familiar with RER bows - www.rerbows.com/Also note, the April/May issue of Traditional Bowhunter has a ncie write up about RER bows, an interview with owner Kevin TerMaat, certainly worth reading if you are thinking about an RER bow. Also, check out his In-Stock Web Specials, half way down the page he has a stick bow for $400 brand new... Nice looking bow, good price! No mention of length, draw weight, and so forth. You'd have to call him for more details... Riser- Satinwood with Bloodwood Double flair Limbs- Action Bamboo with Laurel Burl veneers
