By all means stay with it! It takes a while to build up the muscles. While you are doing so, keep in mind that your accuracy will probalby suffer a lot until you can pull the bow and hold it without thinking about it so much. I had to go through this after surgery, and I know how it can get you down! Also work on getting a smooth draw and release. No need to hold that beast back for hours while taking a shot! Extend the arm, lean into it a bit, get to your anchor point and let'er go. Accept that the accuracy may lack a bit, and just have some fun with it!!!

Go to the 4o-45 ..bad habits can come if you over bow...I know

I would shoot the lower poundage if you haven't shot for an extended period. Shoot that to back in it and then go up in weight. As vonottoexperience stated, you develop bad habits that can be hard to break.
