I know there are plenty of speed freaks here so I ask the question. Have any of you guys shot/seen the Darton's new 3800. I ran into 2 Darton staff shooters at the archery shop in town and they were basically back slapping each other and singing the praises of conquering heros. Well, after the first shot through the chrono they had my attention. 64.9# @ 29" 330 grains was 332, they shot again and dup1. If the speed wasn't impressive enough it was EXTREMELY quiet. He offered for me to shoot it and I just couldn't resist. I shoot 29" also so everything was right there for me. I was amazed at the draw and shot!! I don't get into the Archery Talk bs, oh this bows the greatest and then next year Oh my god, this is just awesome you gotta have it. Buttttttttttt, it's been three days now and I still keep telling myself, you don't need yet another dang bow. I've never been on the speed bangwagon, but this may have changed my tune. I'm trying to talk myself out of ordering one, but I'm just curious if any of you guys have taken a look at the 3800. It's a shame Darton doesn't have the marketing money of the Big 3, cause IMO they hit a home run

They make a good chunk of their change from royalties (think binary cams) paid by other bow companies to use their technologies.

I just looked it over on their site. Really nice specs. How did the draw feel? I love that secondary string stop connected to the cable guide rod....in the catalog. I want one for my Vulcan. Nice bow.

Nice bow. The draw felt great!! It loaded up to the peak pretty smoothly, surprisingly there was about the right amount of valley to the hold as well, it wasn't just wanting to jump as you relaxed in for the shot. Those guys had the cable guard stop as well as Darton's available string stop in the rear stab mount. I don't know what it would feel like without one or the other, but with both it felt excellent. It actually was much quieter and had less shock than my A-Max. Alright, I gotta stop, I'd love to give what my word for word review would be but I'm starting to drool ;D

Well I bit the bullet and bought one!! Im gonna go ahead and blame DG, since she convinced me that I did indeed need another bow. How often does a woman talk a guy into buying yet another bow, lucky man BT!! I pick it up tonight, and I really can't wait this will be my first speed bow. I'll post some pics and chrono results soon.

I picked up my new Pro 3800 on Friday. Saturday I got it all set up and zero in, I shot a 3D shoot with it on Sunday. The shoot was set up easier than I would have liked, I really wanted to test out the speed of the bow and get a gage on how much the speed increase was gonna make judging yardage easier, but they really didn't stretch the course out like I would have liked. Oh well, Im still very pleased I shot a 307 and really feel like I should have shot better, not bad at all given just pulling the bow out of the box though. I went to the shop last night and adjusted my peep after having put plenty of shots thru it. I shot it thru the chrono and 29" @ 63.8# 319 grain was 330 fps. IBO is 345-350, I was hoping for 335, but really I had only accounted for the 1" in draw length drop and didn't account for the super ball peep and loop so really 330 is good results. I forgot to bring my camera to show pictures of the bow and chrono results but I'll get them taken and post if anyone's interested.

When a company states a range from 345 - 350 you can bet on the 345....maybe. 330 is nothing to sneeze at, that's smoking. If it feels good, and is accurate in your hands, that bow sounds like a winner. Let's see the results in the "Live up to IBO thread... btreviews.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=compounds&action=display&thread=5276&page=2
