OMG Red! That is one beautiful bow. I can't wait to see you with your first kill with this one. When's the next season for you?

With that kind of weight in your estimation what would your speed be? just wondering. I 'm still playing with arrows and don't really know what total weight I should be shooting for the maximum benifit.

I 'm still playing with arrows and don't really know what total weight I should be shooting for the maximum benifit. No idea on speed...no chrono. My total arrow weight, with insert and broadhead, is 548. That gives me 10.6gr per pound of draw weight. Anything in the 9 to 11 gr. per pound is considered optimal by most.

Beautiful bow Red! Very nice indeed... This is a recurve?
Where is this bowyer located, and with no web site, how does one get in touch with him? Do you care to share price range?
Best of luck on that first pig! I look forward to seeing the post!
Oldgun - I am shooting a bit "hot" with the latest longbow, right at 9gpp. Gives me speed enough to be very fun to shoot, but also - I think - plenty of hitting power. (I am probably pulling 63 pounds at 31" though, so I do get a fair amount on the arrow.) I think I am shooting in that 180 - 200fps range, but have not checked it yet with the chrono. If you go to light with the arrow, you will start to get extra noise and hand shock, which is also hard on the bow. I like to shoot an arrow somewhere between 550 and 600 grains - depending on the bow. If your draw weight is under 50 lbs, and draw length of 28" or less, you will probably find that arrows in the 600 grain range are no fun at all to shoot. They will drop like bricks. So - for the weight you are shooting and your draw length, find the middle between noise and shock and shooting a brick!

Thanks bud...design is more of a hybrid, like a Shrew. info. as follows: Mike Treadway 7795 Meadows Town Rd Marshall, NC 28753 828 683 8728 He goes strictly by word of mouth, which is more than sufficient. Most of his cliental are Tradgang members. His wait time on bows is from 8 mos. to a year, depending on how many orders are in the hopper. I got lucky, in that he had some made up to take to the Trad. Bowhunters of Florida get-together and that he had one that fit my specs and my eye.
