Likely just heat activated glue BT....try heating the field points from the end and twisting with pliers....should come off...You looking to install broadheads instead?

I will be hopefully. I was figuring ferrule tight glue but wasn't sure the standard and wasn't willing to start a camp fire in the event that I was wrong

My observation is that those who shoot wood, have a lot of arrows laying around! I do believe that my pal Kevin could heat his house for at least a day, maybe more, just by burning those wood arrows... As much as I like my longbows - I shoot carbon that just look like wood. Howard Hill says that you should not expect to shoot wood at shaft lengths greater than 28 inches. His take is that you can't find wood arrows stiff enough to fly right at longer lengths. I shoot 31 to 32 inch draw lengths (depending on anchor point : three under or split one above hold) and have had troubles finding wood that shoots right when I go to full draw. However, another pal of mine has 28 inch hickory with flu-flus. These are great arrows and fun to shoot, they have lived for ever and we can't seem to break them at all! We do seem to loose one every now and then... You might try hickory shafts if you can find them. 28 inch hickory shafts seem very hard to break, have fair weight, and have shot well out of just about every bow I've had.

Thanks smj I should have remembered that bit from H.H. but these were an ebay item and I had to work quick (paid out the nose but still had to work quick ;D ) The one I busted is plenty long and can easily be cut down to 28" How much is a taper tool anyway?
