I was curious how may of ya's build your arrows, what materials and building methods ya'll use. I do up my own, I use cedar shafts. I sand them smooth with a coat of stain then oil sand them (using the stain) I like a medium dark cherry color. After 24hrs. dry time I mask off all but 9" (nock down ) and spray a coat of auto primer on them. Light sanding to give the base coat a tooth to adhere to. I spray the base coat on, after dry time 2 hr. I airbrush the camo pattern on. Let dry over night Creast the shafts with one shot paint using a pin stripper brush and a arrow shat roller and 6 coats of Sherwin Williams Automotive Clear Gloss. Glue on the nock , The Gateway Feathers then BH. I do up about 2 dozen of them at a time. MY buddies buy them from me but with there BH's on them. heres spme pic's

I build carbon and aluminum a and stay away from cedar mostly due to the fact that it's been so many years since I have shot wood....there's no reason to. I use trueflight feathers most times and will opt for gateway when trueflights are not readily available. Just started dipping and wrapping a couple of years ago but that really isn't my bag either Mostly just do it because it's easier than having someone do it for me. Also easier for me to experiment

I build all my own. I am working with a local archery shop now, and he is selling my cedars for me. It works out pretty good, he gets a small percentage of the price, and all my custom stuff is ordered through him now as well. I have some pics on my computer, but dont have time to post them right now...I get em up when I find time.
