I shoot a Viper Longbow. I am making my own fibergalss take-down. And selling the viper, if anyone is intersted in a nice $160.00 50# beginners bow. It is Extremely forgiving. i will get some pics out there as I start making it.

I would suggest taking a good picture of the Viper and then put it on the merchandise category at the top of the board on the Home page

Here is the setup that I've finally settled on; Bow: A Cari-bow Tundra Wolf that I purchased (used) about a month ago (far and away the nicest bow I've ever owned). Arrow: Beman Max 4 340s with Reaperwraps and 5" parabolic RH helical fletching in loud colours. Broadheads; 125 grain slicktricks. I shot these for the first time ever last night and was extremely impressed. Here is the very 1st shot I took with the slicktrick BH (@ 20yds) They seem to penetrate OK. This setup flings a 581 grain arrow (has 100 grain brass HIT inserts) @ 185 fps. I'm sure the SlickTricks should be just fine for deer, bear or anything smaller. Will keep the cut-on-contact Razorcaps in reserve for now, would probably use them if I get out for something larger like moose.

Like that arrow! Like the placement of it as well The bow almost looks like it has a carp skin effect on the face of the limbs?....what is that?

I'm not sure what that limb wood is, but I'll email a picture to the bowyer (Abe Penner) and ask. I can only wish all of my arrows would place like the one in the pic (which is why I took the pic) . What I've found is that with a finger release, if my release is clean, largish broadheads of good quality (such as Razorcaps) will place like my field points. However, if my release is just a little sloppy, the bigger broadheads veer off target much more than my field points, whereas these slicktricks behave just like my fieldpoints even with a sloppy release. The sonics are like that too. I imagine that's why so many microheads have hit the market in the last couple years (ie. STs, Sonics, Rocky Turbos, wac'ems, crossfires etc) The forgiving flight characteristics of the STs is more important to me than them having the potential to pass through a cape buffalo if I'm using them on deer & bear. ;D ;D ;D update: Abe emailed me back and wrote that the veneer on the limbs is fishtail oak or lacewood.
