I'm glad that after all the training by BT that I can help out people in the same situation that I was in prior to meeting (BT). My hunting buddie just went through an extremely unsettling experience with a bow shop that will remain un named. He bought a Martin Firecat with a Hostage rest, and a Cobra 1 pin sight. Now..not only did they not set this bow up..AT ALL..but they sold him arrows that were way over spined for his draw #. So..after 2 visits to said shop, he finally realized that I knew what I was talking about, and arranged a session. His rest was way out ..vertically. and horizontally, his cams were out of time, his tiller was out.his cable slide was.....BACKWARDS!!!.geez..I swear..I couldn't help but think of how this all happened to me before meeting BT. I had him shooting my Victory's at 35yds, and shooting tight groups with BHs, and FPs before it was over. He' ordering a dz. right now, and will be golden come the season. Just another success story related to this site. It amazes me how these guys can sell bows, and accessories with a straight face, and sleep at night.

Spiker that is great that you were able to help a friend out and it is funny how BT and I was talking about this same subject just hours before. I just started working on my own bows and still have a learning curve to go through but with help from the members on this site I am sure I well on my way to being better than any so called pro-shop I have been to.

When I went looking for my first bow I knew to keep an open mind.It did not take long to figure out that many experts were eather NOT or just trying to sell sell sell .This forum, common sense and doing many hours of home work on the internet and books got me to where I am today.First season 3 turkeys and 2 deer .This year critters look out. ;DI will be much better than last year.Last year I made every mistake you can make but think I lurned from them.Time will tell

The funny thing is that if you were to want to set up a patrticular bow...you could google it, and find hundreds of threads on how that bow is set up. On my buddies bow..I perused a bunch of Martin Firecat threads, and found out that center shot is generaly 15/16" from the riser..low, and behold, the angels sang! My center shot tool did not reflect these findings, but shooting a few groups did. Walk back tuning...walk back tuning, walk back tuning!! And some internet, and experience. Check out Lee Earl on you tube, check out a skit called "Broadhead tuning" it's all there if you want to explore, and have the desire to learn...listen to Royden. STOP LETTING BOW SHOPS SELL YOU THEIR OLD INVENTORY TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW!! Edumicate yourself, and stop being a victim!

I know people who shoot/hunt rifles and bows religiously that can tell you ballistics data off the top of their head for their rifles, do trigger jobs and anything/everything else concerning a rifle, but know nothing about their bows. They take it to a so called shop (most of the time) and have no idea if it's performing like it should. Why not put as much time and effort into all of your equipment?
