Well it's not an archery hunt but I got the tag I have been after for 3 years. A muzzle loader tag in the desert units west of me, hunt covers 5 units and there are only 50 tags. My plan for now is to backpack into the Eagletail Wilderness Area with my .50 Hawken and try to take a good one with a roundball even tho I have several friends that offered me their inlines. Only question is how far will I have to walk, first spot, a G&F guzzler is 3.25 miles from where you park, 2nd spot that I have been wanting to hit for a couple years is a natural rock tank about 5 miles from the truck. Luckily I don't have to make up my mind till Dec.
What is good about this tag is Dec is when the big boys start getting revved up for the rut, which usually kicks in full bore in Jan. Two years ago there was a 214" buck taken off the tank at the first spot. And according to one of the G&F officers that flies the units doing game counts some of the biggest deer he has ever seen in the state hang out around the 2nd spot. This is a very nice dilemma to be in.
BT, the pic of that big desert 3 pt I sent you a couple years ago was from the first spot, and he wasn't even the biggest I saw that day.

Awesome deal. I love my Hawken, you shouldn't have any problem going with that weapon..except maybe the weight, but the inlines wouldn't provide much relief in that department anyway. Good luck!!
