This afternoon I got a very good look at what I expect was last years buck that evaded Spiker
I watched for maybe 10 minutes from maybe 40 yards (maybe less) and I got a very good look at the rack....which was stunning
The outside spread was 2 1/2 hands passed his ears...even when he was alert and those ears were stretched out to catch a noise.
His Brow tines were 8-9" high minimum and straight up.... with bases that were a least three thumb widths.
He Had 4 Tines off the Main beam that were also straight as nails with bases to each tine that matched the Brow tines width.
I honestly dont know how wide the deers rack was
He looked maybe 4 years old I would guess...I really dont think he was in excess of that.
I have a rather large Rack in my basement and as soon as I got home I ran down to get it.....to see what comparison I could make, to try and determine how big this bucks rack looked to be.
That Large rack looked much smaller when I finally got it in my hands
The old rack is a 125 I believe
The Buck I saw today would have to be well in excess of 160 if the rack continues to mature for another 2 months...at current rate of growth.
I wish that Skipmaster had been here or that I could have taken a picture
I know for a fact that this would be (easily) the largest deer that I have ever drawn on.
I also saw the huge spike
This buck has Two forks at the top of a foot of growth....nearly straight up off of his head ;D
I couldn't and wouldn't shoot this guy if he did give me the opportunity
He is funny looking and too young to waste just yet.
A few more years under his belt and he may very well best his big friend which I saw today
