Just wanted some feed back on how you guys shoot. Three fingers under or split finger and some opinions of pros and cons. I picked up my Pearson Colt last night and shot a fifteen target marked yardage range in the rain with no warm up. I didn't do well and didn't expect to.I shot both ways and the three finger under seemed to work better for me.

Myself I shoot split finger. But I think a lot of it is what you are comfortable with.

I have shot both ways - 3 under and split one above the shaft. Going with 3 under seems like the faster way to get on target for closer ranges, ranges out to which there is not a lot of drop in the flight of the arrow. However, only if you get the shaft very close to your eye so that you are looking right down the shaft, and only true if you have a rock solid anchor and great form. Looking down the shaft it is easy to take note of where the arrow is relative to where the mark is, and away you go! However, once you back up a bit and the arrow starts to have some drop to it, I don't think it matters squat which way you shoot. For closer distances, or ranged distances that don't change such as a 20 yard shot at the range, probably 3 under for more consistency and accuracy quickly with less practice. What I don't like about 3 under style for me is that I don't have a solid anchor point. Without that, my shooting sucks no matter how much I practice. So, I shoot 1 over 2 under because I get the best anchor and form - which helps me in the long run. But it does take a few rounds to get the feel back after I've not shot for a month or so. And when first learning, I think it takes more shots to start to get it figured out because the distance eye to shaft is a bit greater when you shoot 1 over. Once the brain learns how to deal with the offset eye to shaft, you should be good no matter which way you shoot. If you want to be a "string walker" - then you have to shoot 3 under. I have never been able to walk my fingers down the string and keep one over the shaft!
PS - I have never been a fan of anchoring under the chin or on the jaw line for traditional shooting. For me, my cheek bone works perfect as an anchor point when I split the fingers. The shaft ends up very close to the eye as well - hence - not a lot of difference between 3 under and split for me... Other than that whole string walking thingie, which I don't do!
