If you are a hunter you should do 3-D not for the practice of hitting your mark but for mental conditioning.
(although there are other good things that you learn)
Think about this.....
The majority of bowhunters are not seasoned hunters with a bow and even if you are think about this.....the mental game
Mental imagine will make or break you in the woods.
What goes through your mind when that deer comes out?
There is no single answer for that but there are dozens and dozens of answers such as .... "Please God!....""I have to do it now!"...."wait till (insert name here) See's this!"..... oh god,oh god,oh god!!!!"
Lets face it , there's alot that can go through your mind and does and none of it has anything to do with what you want to do first which is making the shot.
How does 3-D cure this?....well you cant shoot well at 3-D either if you do the same things and trust me....you will
The fact that you are with other people who are watching you and waiting for you to shoot so that they can shoot is a real pressure cooker for some people.
Generally the same people who blow that shot on the deer
So why does 3-D make it any better ?....well first you have to do it enough to make a real A$$ out of yourself ;D
Seriously...you have to get sick of it and thats when you learn a real skill , which is to block out your own thoughts of the moment.
YOU!.... are the problem in these situations and only YOU! can avoid these dilemma's.
You will learn to relax under pressure and to think of only the point of aim
Some people like my son learn this after a couple of shoots and some people like me , over a couple of years of shoots
Seriously....I did o.k. at first but I really sucked compared to today and sometimes I still get that clouded condition when I am with others.
But thats good....means that I am not just wasting time out there
My suggestion to you if you are going to a shoot is to first go to the targets and warm up while you wait for a big group to show up.
When they do....ask to join them.
Talk about pressure!
Even if they are poor shots you are going to be self aware of what you are doing and it's gonna take it's toll on you if you are not able to clear that head
Forget the fact that you may end up being no where near the top of you class...it's not about that!
It's about -YOU- being better and it's about -YOU - having fun!
