Jen, Scotty, and I met up with Paul to shoot the Nothern Dutchess Rod and Gun Clubs 3D this morning. It was a perfect day weatherwise to shoot. The course was really sloppy though. I can feel it in my legs something fierce right now. The course was a typical Paul course. By that, any of you that have shot his set up know I mean it was well set up, but extremely demanding. Scotty and I bombed today. We had a half dozen goose eggs between us, and we were tied. I'm embarressed to say what we tied at though. Jen for her first full 3d, on a very demanding course shot very well. She shot a 170, with very little ranging help. I told her that this is by far the hardest course she will see all year. The only thing that I had a problem with is that they had the women shooting the green stake, the same as bowhunter unlimited. I don't really agree with that. Jen shot the yellow stake which was between the bownunter stake, and the traditional stake. Paul...well what can you say. The Hoyt shop shooter smoked us again. He was up there in the mid 270's, on a very hard course! I think we have to make a new law that he has to shoot the pro stake when he sets up the course, with a rangefinder!!! Don't worry Paul...we all believe you didn't remember any of the yardages!!!! ;D ;D
All in all it was a good day. It took forever to shoot the course, and we were late getting home. We re all smoked after trudging throught the snow, slush and the mud for almost 4 hours. Here are some pics from today....
Me about to let loose on a Caribou.....
Scotty on the same Caribou....
Paul about to ace the 'bou...
Me about to shoot the standing bear. This is the kind of thing I love about Pauls set-ups. This was an awesome shot between the trees with the overhanging tree....
Jens view of the standing beer from the yellow stake....
A few good arrows in a gorgeous Rhinehart leapord. I want this target!!!!!
The disadvantage of beeing 7' tall! ;D Paul, kneeling to shoot under an overhanging branch, shooting at a black buck I believe it was.
The advantage of being 5'9 1/2' gotta throw in that .5!!! Me taking a shot at the same black buck,,,,
Jen taking a shot at the same black buck.....
Jen trying to pull her arrow from a tree after shooting over the black buck. ...
Paul. looking extremely profesional, like a shop shooter should. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of him writing his name in the snow this time! ;D
Scotty at full draw...
