Jen, Scotty and I shot the New Haven Raccoon Clubs' 3D, in Durham, CT this morning. It was pouring rain when we met at my house this morning, but after the 40 minute ride, the rain had passed.
The course started of pretty simple... alot of 20 and 25 yard shots in the first half. The second half stretched out a bit, and they really used the terrain to make judging tricky. The last shot was a killer! it was a double, from a cliff about 25 feet high, at a bear and a caribou out in the skeet field. Definitely one of the trickiest shots I have seen. What a killer way to end a course!
Scotty shot from the pro stake, and shot a 241, which when we left was 3rd best. Jen shot a 229 from the hunter stake, for her best 30 target total yet. I ended with a 249, which had me 4th in the freestyle class when we left, with about a half dozen people left to check in. I had a string of 3 nickels in a row that killed what could have been my best score.
Here are some pics from today. We didn't take a lot as the battery in my cam was almost dead, and I didn't realize it.
A nice group on a Lion....
Scotty, lining up on a Javelina from the Pro Stake....
Me at full draw on the Javelina....
Jen about to let one fly at the Javelina...
Here is a pic of all of us shooting the tree stand shot...
Scotty shooting a small boar. This was a tricky shot, especially from the pro stake, with a big dip between scott and the target.
Jen shooting at the boar...
And last but not least...the double to end the shoot. What a brutal set-up for the end of a course.
