Jen and I took the ride up to Southside R&G today for their 3D, and met up with Paul (Vonotto), and Cliff (Crazycliffy).
I don't even know where to begin. Adam and the guys at Southside, definitely put a lot of effort into setting up their course and it most definitely shows. Great job guys! There were some awesome set-ups, possibly the best I have seen in my short 3D Career. Definitely used the terrain to make some of the shots tricky. Lot of real narrow shooting lanes, and shots that you had to kneel down on. Oh yeah...if you miss a target here...don't even bother looking for your arrow! It isn't gonna be in one piece. I donated a couple today! I can't wait to go back and shoot this course again.
well... the Hoyt's layed the smack down on us once again. Jen, and Paul tied at 276! Jen edged him out with 10 x's. Jen is on fire!!! Wish there were more women for her to shoot against.
Paul made a mistake adding up his score. does this surprise anyone? Jen edged him out by 2 points!!!
Cliffy and I are still the problem children in our group. After last weeks fiasco, I was hesitant to use the back tension today. I started off with the Thumb trigger, and that ended up being a disaster. The first 12 targets, I had an 8, a zero, and 10 nickels. I switched over to the EVO and improved a ton after a few targets to get settled down. I ended the day with a pitiful 216. I learned my lesson, from here on out, come hell or high water, I'm shooting back tension.
Cliff has been having problems since he swapped out the speed mods, for the smooth mods in his Tribute. He was on his way to NDA to have the speed mods put back in when he left the shoot.
!
I want to thank Adam, and the guys from Southside for setting up a really cool course!
Here are some pics from today..
Southsides clubhouse, and covered range. They are setting up for the kids shooting...
A good set -up on the leaning bear...
Jen, about to take a poke at the bear...
A shot at the racoon. There were a bunch of small targets today...
Yup...there's a target there somewhere!!! i think it is the racoon, but I'm not positive...
This was a good downhill bear shot....
Trying to figure yardage on a buck....what a gorgeous piece of property...
ground blind shot at a turkey...
A shot at a walking bear...
Jen shootingt he bear...
The danger of the staggered stakes...
A buck in the Hemlocks...
This was in my opinion the trickiest shot of the day...there is a Ram in this pic, up on the shale hillside... I shot it long, and grenaded an arrow!
close up of the ram...
Jen about to X the ram...
Little beaver target...with a big ledge for a backstop!...You're evil Adam!!!!
pulling arrows from the beaver...this was a great shot set-up!
scoping out the 2 bears...
drawing down on one of the bears...
Jen...looking for the X's....Yeah...you shoot like a girl alright!
Jen, shooting the standing bear...
A picture of the campsite set-up...
Great spot for the bedded buck!!!
trying to decide yardage on a coyote( yes, I previously said it was a deer...my bad!)...
Looking for the X on a bobcat...I found it!
A pair of X's on the wolf!!!
Gonna have to wait for Paul to post his a Cliffs pics, as we split up and shot in pairs today. As you can see by the pics, it was a very interesting course today!
