I understand that 3-D for many just isn't an option because of location or such but I am wondering who is shooting again this year....and those who have never shot a 3-D before. If you have never shot or have only once or twice....why and what would change that For those that are looking forward to the season....whats a good description of a great course in your opinion? I used to be crazy for 3-D but thats when it was $5. a shoot. Today @ $15. a shoot plus $4. a gallon gasoline.....it's going to be less than I had hoped. Thats why I built my own range 5 years back. It's just more cost effective.....at least by todays standards None the less....I do like it and believe in it's positive effects when done correctly.

I am in the process of getting a club formed, $ ponied up and targets ordered. The closest 3-d to us is ? at least 70 miles - but I'm not sure even on that. there are (3) one time shoots with-in 200 miles of us during the summer. I'm hoping to keep the shoot costs to $10 but we'll have to see. We're gonna try and keep the shots so that the score ring is realistic when compared to the vitals and shot angle. Some shots will be a gimme; but most will be hard and a few will be hazardous to an arrows longevity! I have no idea what I'm getting into - but it will be fun falling in feet first! (Never even shot a 3-d course)

We have a few that go on around us every year. The first one of the year is this coming Sunday the 30th. We go to about 3 or 4 a year all within 40 miles of us. That's how I get my stash of T-Shirts ;D Only a hand full of women shoot We are also members of a archery club that has 4 different courses. Our dues are $60 a year. So we go several times a year there too.

We will be shooting all summer. Not for the competion but just for hunting practice. We have a couple of ranges fairly close about 20 miles. the cost here is $7 at one and $10 at the other.
I like my 3-D shooting to mimic hunting shots with platforms and hills and shooting through some holes in limbs and trees.
There is a Great range In Sturgis, Mi at the conservation Club only $7 and they hold 2 shoots a month starting in May

Quite frankly we would shoot 3-D more often if the cost to shoot wasn't so high. When it costs $10 per person to shoot, then you have gas and something to eat or drink Not to mention the cost if I bust or lose an arrow. Allot of 3-D courses are set up in such a way that you are almost certain to have an arrow mishap. I don't take risky/marginal/hazardous to arrows shots while hunting so I don't care for it at a 3-D shoot. It's a bit expensive for a hunting couple like us to do often.

Folk's, I set up and promote the 3D shoots for our club. 3D targets are EXPENSIVE..our budget this yr. was 1600$ for targets. We bought three {3} targets! an Elk, feeding deer, and a stone sheep. There's a lot of hours put into setting up the course, and preparation.10,12, 15 Bucks is not to much to ask...This isn't a money maker, know one is quiting there jobs and opening up a 3D course.just happy to break even. These courses are out there for your entertainment..use them and enjoy!

I don't take risky/marginal/hazardous to arrows shots while hunting so I don't care for it at a 3-D shoot. This see something you see on a lot of 3D courses that I absolutely don't agree with. There is no reason for any 3D course to have more than a 35 yard shot from a bowhunter stake. And even then, it should be a large target. There are some of us, including me who really do not like long distance shooting. It irks me to walk up to a the hunter stake, and see a 35 yard turkey, or a 40 yard javelina. Make it the Elk or the Moose if you really need to stretch out the shots that much. A lot of people really shoot 3d for fun, and aren't into the ultra competitive thing.

If you shoot for fun then it doesn't matter what stake you shoot from. You can mix and match from target to target. That keeps the mood very light. If you step up to a target and don't like the yardage, move up to where you feel comfortable. Me, I'm more on the competetive side. I like challenging shots. BUT, a shot doesn't have to be 50yds to be hard. I agree with Vonotto in that the price is not that bad when you consider other hobbie out there. Anyone who golfs knows what I mean. I also agree with Tedicast in that a course needs to be set up right. It requires a lot of thought and manpower to run a good shoot. In the end, with 3-D, you really get out of it what you put into it. It can be as competetive or as relaxed as you want it to be. For the record, I shoot weekly.
