I just wanted to share a modification I just completed for my Spot Hogg 7 DP sight. I think it is a great sight but I wasn't happy with the way the fiber optics were exposed and susceptable to breakage. When I saw Fitz's sight bracket on his website it got me thinking of a way to give the fiber optics a little more protection, I chose to reverse mount the bracket ( backwards to what it was intended) since I wasn't going to rely on the external light anyway being that the LD fibers are bright enough on their own. I painted some luminuous paint on the inside of the bracket so that if necessary I could recharge the paint with a flashlight to ensure that I could hunt the last 1/2 hr without fear of loosing my sight pins. I made some spacers out of some brass tubing and I cut the extended mounting screws (provided with the bracket) to the proper length, then assembled the bracket to the sight. I then threaded and wound the LD fibers around the bushings, then I wraped the fibers with a clear piece of plastic that I glued into place. I thought that having the fibers tightly wrapped and enclosed would be better than having all of the fibers around the outside of the sight. I'm including some pics of the set up.

Outstanding solution! I wont use exposed fibers in the field and it has left me very few sights left to buy.
This is a great Mod and one that you would think would have been done at the outset!?!

smokeeter nice mod. I especially like the thought of the luminous paint on the inside of the bracket.

You should submit your modifications to Spot Hogg... For a fee of course! That modification would "make" the sight in my book!
