My friend picked up a Drenalin this past winter and we'd not had a chance to hook up. I'd been ribbing him and saying I've had a Drenalin for over a year (pocketless limbs, thin limbs, etc. etc.). He laughs and says he prefers the Mathews Free Hat to the PSE style, and being able to call PSE the 'Fords of the Archery World'.
Anyway...
So we get together today so I can take him to shoot D.A.R.T. and we get a chance to compare face to face.
Diablo: 65#, 26" Draw, Hybrid Cam
Drenalin: 60#, 29.5" draw, Solocam
Drenalin: Nice looking bow, and the limbs ARE thin.
- Very smooth draw, as one would expect.
- It was not as quiet as I thought it would be based on what the Mathews fans on AT said, but certainly quiet enough.
- It was pretty fast, but we did not have a chrono. It seemed about as fast as my Diablo, but less poundage and a lot more DL.
Diablo:
He also shot my Diablo and was amazed. He said for all the trash talk people do at his local shop about PSE, he said he was super impressed.
- The Hybrid Cams were more aggressive than his solocam
- He said he thought it was more quiet.
- He said it seemed more balanced in his hand.
- He felt it actually had less shock, but the top tilted forward a bit on the shot. I never noticed it before, so not sure what he is feeling there.
Overall:
We both love our bows and respect the others.
But, since obviously brands are the only thing that influence scores (if you believe the advertising hype), I have to declare PSE the winner as the Diablo outscored the Drenalin in D.A.R.T.
