Me and my wife were planning to shoot at the worlds 3d shoot in New York this year. But we found out she is pregnant and do not know if she could still shoot her bow. I looked on line and seen that an olympian shot her bow while 7 months into it. But our doctor said no even though my wife had to explain how you shoot a bow. :PDoes anyone have an answer to this, I don't want to hurt our baby but I would like my shooting partner to compete with me??

My wife don't shoot a bow, but she did excercise reguraly all thru her first pregancy - it seemed to help the whole thing go well. Two of my co-workers are bowhunting women - they both are pregnant and still shooting their bows. I'd get a second opinion from a doc who is perhaps more athleticly minded hey doegirl - what's the nurses say? oh yeah CONGRATS to you and yours

If it's an activity they are not 110% sure about it's safety, they'll simply tell you no. If they had their way, pregnant women would be in a hermetically sealed plastic bubble until labor. I personally don't see how it's remotely possible to endanger a pregnancy by shooting a bow. Perhaps the doc knows something I don't. I concur with getting a second opinion.

I cannot believe that there is anything to be concerned about. Really.....I cant. I have seen ladies who jogged halfway through their term and much more. Doegirl's thoughts seem to be on track

My wife put in 1000 miles on the bicycle when she was carrying our first. She only did 750 miles when pregnent with the second. Of course, she had the first one in the trailer and was pulling her along... We figure pulling the trailer slowed her down a bit.
I'd talk to another doc!

Heck, I seen women downing whiskey, and smoking pot while pregnant, so what could a little archery do? Just Kidding!!! I'd be a little nervous about it. What's nine months compared to a life? A little break certainly is a 100% risk free endeavor, so why chance it....JMHO....

I can't see where it would be a problem until possibly the last few months.

I wish there was some sort of a test done on this. These universities spend alot of money on tests that realy does not do any good to our society. I think she will shoot as long as she is feeling good and not overdue.

The placenta and the womb are just plain remarkable and miraculous when it comes to protecting a fetus. I've seen pregnant mothers who have been through incredibly traumatic traffic accidents with no injury to the baby. I even worked one where the mother died from blunt force trauma and the baby was born at the hospital later. Absolute miracles. God knew what he was doing when he "designed" us. Unless you develop some other disorder like preeclamsia or something like that, I cannot see how archery would cause a problem. Doegirl, being a nurse, what say you?
