Mustang tops out !

Well I cranked the mustang all the way up
to see what I could get.I had to bring it back to
the shop because I am blowing past the upper
dampener again .I think it's a two part problem.
The string is pushing very hard on the dampener
that I am not sure was a good one from Mathews
and their soft rubber problem.
We put one on that they had just sent Bill.He
also removed both strings to measure said the
short one was OK,but the longer one had stretched.
He said we can put on a winners choice or twist this
one.I said lets twist for now.He had it in the bow
vice 3 or 4 times.When he was done it looked much
better where the string went over the dampener.Time
will tell.He also put on a smaller peep sight for me .
All for no charge .
Before we did anything I had him put it on the scale.
Bottomed out it was about 52#.I shot it at home before
and got 240FPS.When we were done we checked it and
we got 53-54#.I checked it again at home and got 239FPS.
I am looking for a new sight and he will take any one
you want and put it on so you can see if you like it.I tryed
a Cobra 5 pin and at 20 yds was 3 feet low and 2 feet to
the left.I said I wish I could shoot it outside.Someone said
they have a place outside .I went out and shot it.The
sight had plenty of light but I had it adjusted all the way
and was still 8 in low.I am not sure if it was totally the
sight or that my nock changed .I had to do some adjusting
when I got home to get it sighted in again.I'll call him tomorrow
and see what he thinks.He said if I still have a problem
its going back to let Mathews figure it out
Just had a brain flash maby I can adjust my whisker biscuit
instead of driving 38 mi. to have him move the nock

Did your pro recheck the nocking point location after he twisted up and replaced the string? Pretty good chance it's no longer were it once was. Do you have a bow square?

Somthing is wrong.
Greg is on to somthing....you said your bottomed on the sight....did you mark your points before starting this?.

You said you swaped the sight?....is that right?.
If so.....could be that the sight bracket is diffrent.
There's alot going on here to simply guess whats up.

I would definetly check the tune first and then move to the other stuff.
When flight tuning , it doesnt matter where you are hitting , as long as you are hitting the same place as you move away from the target.

The string had stretched 1/2 in.It made the cam move
and I think it's like starting over with a new bow.I checked
it with a square and it is 90deg.on the button.The
Cobra sight I tried had a very odd shape to it.It only had
adjustments for up - down rt and left with no way to move
the hole sight.I was shooting this morning at 20yds and
had some one inch groups think I'm going to back it down
a pound or two and give it another month before I go up
again.I like to shoot as much as I can but the few extra
pounds takes the pleasure out of it.I'll check it out to 50 yds.
if we ever get a day that isn't raining!
I think the cobra sight model I tried is not a universal
bracket.It looked humped like nothing I have ever seen.I
told Bill to take it off and everyone was trying to see if
there was a way to set it up differently.
I'm going nuts trying to get a good sight that works for
me.Its nice when you can try one to see how you like it

Perhaps switch out the sight and see if the same thing happens. Kind of like a gun that's being a pain to sight in with a scope. Shoot it with iron sights or another scope. If that works, then the scope in question had a problem. If iron sights or another scope does not help, it's either you or the weapon.

You said he put in a smaller peep for you. If I were a betting man I would say the new peep is lower on your string than the old one. I don't recall if you have a kisser or not. If not did you notice if your hand was higher on your face when anchored.?


Also you might want to shoot the bow later in the day to see if the smaller peep causes any issues during low light. Better to find that out now than when that old buck whose sheds you have comes sneaking by at prime time.
