"I will try a bigger space from the string." What I meant to get across was mine are set so the string is about a thickness past the face of the rubber at rest w/ them off to check brace height.

"I will try a bigger space from the string." What I meant to get across was mine are set so the string is about a thickness past the face of the rubber at rest w/ them off to check brace height. I was under the impression that setup would cause rapid deterioration of the rubber stops. Is there not a problem as the brace height changes? I have set it up with softer material and will shoot when the rain stops. Rain is good because it gives me time to work on the bow, but bad when it messes up my glasses so I can not see the target. ;D Ghost

Ghost; for one thing my "Boo" strings don't stretch much at all, nothing like factory ones. Guys on Excal forum have several hundred shots w/ no rubber deterioration [sp]. The factory STS jobs come w/ extra rubbers [hmmm, there's a thought for ya]. What I do to check bheight is cock the bow to get the string away from the rubbers, pull them off, then lower string w/ rope cocker to check bheight. Kinda a hassle, but only need to do that prior to hunting and can usually tell by taking a shot off of bags anyhow. Works for me.

I have tried a softer material and setting the bumpers at different positions relative to the string, including setting them a strings width past brace height (toward the trigger). There is a reduction in vibration but not a significance reduction in noise. I will leave them in place as protection against a dry fire but will not spend any more time trying to reduce bow noise. I have a lot of work to do on my diy ladder stands and food plots. I just need for the rain to go away. Ghost
