Your 40 yards out and the buck has stopped long enough to look up th ridge. he was headed over the ridge he now stands on and is going to continue on once his curiosity is satisfied. What do you do?

I hope that I keep in mind that anyone can walk up the otherside of the ridge and be in the line of the shot. I let him go and then beat my head on the nearst tree. ;D

The way my brother described his doe that is almost exactly the pose. He took out both lungs and the heart with a NAP Shockwave. Based on the doe being on a slope, his 'treestand' shot was almost equivalent to flat. He did not have a ridge.
I would not feel great about shooting where I can not see where my arrow will go after the shot. But we don't see many bucks of that caliber here. ;)O

I see a deer to the very left...but...I'm aiming at the exit... which is the front left leg. That's a tailor made shot for me as that's my main practice range. Although there's no way he'll appear that big at that range..also...human eyesight could see better than the camera at the background, and it would be much clearer to assess any objects behind....

I'll slip an arrow in behind his ribs and out by the left leg, like spiker. Where I hunt there are very few people around and no houses/buildings and I will have scouted so I know what is on the other side of the hill. Worst case scenario is I'm down south after coues deer and scare up a bunch of illegals and hope they aren't packing drugs and guns.

Also...that feeding deer to the left would alert you to any activity on the other side of that ridge, I would feel pretty good about no one being in the path of my arrow.
