The demeanor is cautious for the most part. Rear deer is walking. You are 40 yards away.

Not the left deer because the rear deer is walking and pass through could be trouble..unecessary "wounding" even though the left deer itself is presenting a great shot. Not a good shot angle on the right one especially at 40 yards..(for me).
Attempting to draw may spook all three but if NOT, then wait for the rear deer to clear, and let er' fly!
This may not be right, but it would be MY take on the situation!

I don't see a good shot. Especially at 40 yards. At least for me.
I would wait until they were a little more dispersed and one of them was quartering away (if possible).

I didn't vote as none of the answers were quite right. first off, I'm not taking a shot at 40 yards under any circumstances. I don't even have a pin on my hunting rig for over 30 yards. Second of all there is no clean shot. And lastly, they are all bucks that I would let walk.

Good points on all levels....My choice is not there either. I vote to let the rear deer clear.....then slam the center buck. 40yds is point blank as far as I'm concerned, just as much chance of a miss at 20.

I'd wait for the back one to step clear and let him have it. yes, he is smaller than I would normally shoot but i don't hunt june either I would not hesitate on a 40yd shot on a stopped, calm deer.

I will agree that it may be out of the comfort range for some but I don't believe you are pinned. it looks as if the deer in the back is very calm and totally unaware of you.
