I am going with the kneel down and wait for the shot. I beleive you could kill this animal where he lays but as long as he doesnt know you are there why not wait for a better angle.

Between the fact that he is looking right at you, and obviusly has you busted, and the quartering too angle, there is no shot. In the situation, I'm gonna freeze, and be ready to draw quick. I think with him staring you down, the motion of kneeling will send him ballistic. Hopefully he isn't about to go on red alert, and he will stand slowly, instead of exploding from his bed. It is by far better to get no shot at this incredible buck,( or any deer for that matter), then to make a bad shot on him.

I said draw and try and get him to stand, but I wouldn't actually try and get him to stand. the act of drawing would probably do that since he has already spotted me. just waiting will still jump him in just a few seconds and halfway through getting to your knees he'll be out of bed and you won't be ready. I would draw and wait for him to stand and present me wth a shot. I know I can hold for 5minutes and full draw when I lock in my elbow to my side.

I know I can hold for 5minutes and full draw when I lock in my elbow to my side. Oh .....good point skipmaster We didn't go over that this year yet. This fact might help alot of people this year....have to post this fact in tips and tricks along with a few other things I said kneel although I do like the points that you made skipmaster To me , the deer looks alert and curious but not alarmed. I reasoned that by kneeling down this would cause the buck to rise while attempting to keep an eye on me. At that time I could do a slow draw at which point he would turn to leave , giving me a perfect quartering away shot.....hopefully.

What about using a wheeze call? I've never used one but have read that they can be effective.

I have a small brunt call that is about a inch and a half long that is on a necklace rope. I wouldn't hesitate to put that in the corner of my mouth and make a grunt to try and get him to stand if I chose to draw and wait for it.
