The deer is head down and calm , facing straight away. You are 15' up and the deer is 25 yards out. You don't want to spine it.
What do you do?

I would vote for two inches off center over the hip as what I think would be the BEST shot..... If I were actually there, I {personally}would PASS the shot!!

At that distance I would just wait for a different shot angle. The deer is close and you are bound to get a different angle sooner or later.

On a deer, I'd wait.
On a hog, right up the pooht shute.
I hate mosquitoes.
I hate hogs worse than mosquitoes.

My son who understands the concept of this site asked me after I started taking pictures.... " WHY ARE YOU SHOWING PEOPLE HOW TO MAKE A BAD SHOT?" The kid was right .... shouldn't even entertain this stuff But ..... there was a method to my madness here and that was to show how crazy hard this shot is. Bottom line is .... don't do it , forward or backward At the point shown in the picture I just missed the pelvis by a fraction of an inch and 2" higher I would nearly miss the entire lung due to the trajectory. This is an super hard shot and I would never take it on my best day (I had no idea just how hard it was until I saw the set up ) Lockmaster nailed it and it was the only guaranteed kill shot due to the fact that the lung mass width doesn't allow for 1" and at 3" you are in the ribs where you could deflect either in or out. Thats not an ethical shot by any means Thankfully Lockmaster also said he would pass the shot I made the mistake of taking this shot in the forward position a few years back (shot 1" off center) and luckily got some liver as the deer walked out. That is why a broadhead must maintain it's cutting edge after contact with bone....for just this type of error. The deer went 450 yards before collapsing and there was perhaps a 1/2 teaspoon full of blood to show for that distance. Thankfully I have an expert tracker in both my oldest son and my dog who together found this old buck. Please do not take this shot
