Good luck. It is sometimes a long hard road, but worth it if it comes to be!

Sorry to be clueless, but what kind of business did you start? HVAC Service Company This area is lost as far as technicians are concerned....not many skilled people left and a truck load of oil in this area. With the oil prices being up to .70 more expensive with full service company's as compared to discounters , what the community needs is an independent service so that they can purchase the cheaper fuel Not to speak of the fact that people are getting serious about efficiency again and therefore are replacing their boilers/oil tanks at a brisk pace

My best buddy has his own business and has had it for about 10 years. He started with a partner and he ended up stealing everything for crack. My buddy had to start from scratch by his self and get back on his feet. He did it in about 6 months and has been going strong every since.
My advise from working with him, being his roommate and friend is: to work harder and provide better service than the next business, be good to your employees(once you get some), never talk about work once you are "home" and BE SURE TO SPEND TIME AT HOME WITH THE FAMILY. No matter how busy you are or feel you are, family is first. They will appreciate the time spent with them and it helps to forget the stressful work day.
Also, here is a slogan for you to use: "The bitterness of poor quality, outlasts the sweetness of low cost!". You would be amazed at how much business you will get by using that and following it to a T. You may be cheaper in some areas than other companies and you may be more expensive, but stick with your prices and provide A-1 service and people will make the call.

Having gone through this in the past, I wish you the best of luck. It's very hard to become established. The very best piece of advice I can offer is to NEVER shortcut your work. A reputation is VERY hard to build but VERY easy to destroy.

wow BT That's a great start. How well do you know your potential customere base? With that kind of a start do you need a lot of advertising - or just let your name and quality work bring in new customers? Good luck and keep it up!
