It's cold and rainy here today so thought I would make something to warm us up.
2 lbs deer cubed into about 1/2" chunks braised in olive oil, then added 6 cups water, 4 small spuds diced, 1/2 onion diced, several shallots diced, blast of seasoning salt, blast of seasoning pepper, blast of Mrs. Dash, couple cloves garlic crushed & diced fine, sprinkling of basil, sprinkling of dried mustard, sprinkling of ground bay leaf, blast of paprika to blend everything together. Added in 1/3 cup brown rice, 1/3 cup wild rice, 1/3 cup barley and when it is all done I will throw in a can of corn and can of green beans drained. Will bake up some biscuits to sop up the juice out of the bowl. May have to add a little more water depending on how much the rice & barley soaks up. If you want to thicken the broth to make it like stew then mix up a couple few tablespoons of flour real good into 1/2 cup cold water and pour into the mix stirring constantly so you don't get lumps. I did this in the crockpot and it is simmering as I type.
