Noticed a reply from my buddy Spiker about the Pinwheel shaft selection software...wouldn't install (said I had to purchase). Anyway, it seems most shaft selection charts take into consideration: 1. arrow length 2. type of bow 3. head weight Now, to the question. Do any of these charts or the Pinwheel software take into consideration arrow speed? Does arrow speed play a role in choosing proper shaft spin? I know it is taken into consideration with type of bow, but a compound of today is dramatically different from one of the past. I ask this because my Elite Fire is in the mail. It is shooting 311 fps with 27.5 inch draw @ 60 lbs. This type of speed would be unheard of 10 or 15 years ago from a 60 lb. bow. Do the charts update accordingly? Forgive if this is a silly question.

IMO, save your money. I had some problems with OT2. Such as the calculated speeds for my Equalizer on that program are some 40fps below what has been chronographed. You can change the IBO to reflect what your bows actually getting. But, the spine chart still reflects the default values, not the ones you manually put in. So, basically, the program has been a total and complete waste of time. I did contact the company, but they were of no help

Thanks, Doegirl. I wonder if Easton, Carbon Express, Gold Tip, or the others update their shaft selection charts regularly to account for increasing arrow speeds.

No I don't think the charts have been updated. To me Easton's is the most accurate just because of the number of variables you can change - but I think it is behind the times still.
I use archer's advantage ... it does allow you to play with speeds and see how arrow length affects spine; however I'm not sure if it is accurate either... I'm still playing with that one.
chrony matches AA on four bows that I have tested within 5 fps.

I have found many set ups that were designed with pinwheel to be faulty. That being said....it is a better system than most. JMO

Looks pretty good, Spiker...may have to break down and buy the program.

I'm surprised they stopped the free trial...probably too many people using them once for their arrow selection, and didn't buy it afterward. I know there was a bunch of us that were getting people to get it to check on a spine for a certain bow/arrow setup because our's had expired. I might just buy it also, I like to play with it. It's a lot more complicated than it looks, I downloaded the instructions, and found a lot of different uses for it...now, how accurate the results are are unknown, but I'll put it to the test....good luck... I found the link to the program Royden uses as well, and it looks pretty good... archersadvantage.com/AdPages/AAShaftSelector.htm
