I just noticed Beman arrows that I shoot the 500's come in 7.3(mine) 7.9,8.9,and 9.7 gpi? ?? I'm shooting 45# today! do I need to go up in gpi when I'm shooting 50# or just if I want more KE? ? The 7.3's are shooting great at 20 yds and if they are off at 30 its me! I think I'm going to loose my mind Why would any one shoot a 9.7?

The heavier arrows are of a stiffer spine and are intended for higher draw lengths and draw weights. No, you do not need to up your arrow weight. You've got plenty for whitetail. You can go as low as 5 grains per pound of draw weight as long as the arrow is correctly spined. I would simply stick with Beman 500's for 50lbs or even go to a lighter, flatter shooting shaft.

50# for 500 shafts is right on the mark and I wouldn't worry about it....espeacially with the 85gr sting heads
