Well...as a lot of you know, I ordered a Bucknasty string for my Outback a couple weeks ago. John(Bucknasty) was a pleasure to deal with, answered pm's super fast, and answered any question I had. I ordered a string/cable set in Flo. orange, and dark green, with dark green serving. Last Monday, they were in my mail box. The colors looked sweet! Took them to my bro's house, and we swapped out the old Winners Choice for the Bucknasty's. Got the string and cable on, got the bow in spec. Paper tuned the bow in 3 shots. Shot it through the chrono, and picked up 3 fps. So far, so good. Went outside to our 3D range, and shot about 50 arrows. Brought the bow back inside to re-check the specs. Nothing budged. Then, I notice this on the cam....
WTF!!!!!
I called John as soon as I got home, and I emailed him these same pics. He was shocked. I told him that I had the WC string with 12,000 - 15,000 shots on it, and it showed none of this wear, and I have the original Zebra string that the loops are perfect on. John apologized multiple times, and told me he would build me a new set, and get it in the mail the next day. Ok. thats cool....we all make mistakes. I know that better then most...lol.
Fast forward to this past Friday. I got the second set of strings and cables. We put the bow in the press, and remove the first set. we take a cotton ball, and run around all the cam hubs, to make sure there aren't any burrs that tore the string up installing it. there was absolutely nothing that grabbed the cotton. So...... We install the cable, and then the string. Before we even get the bow out of the press..I notice the string on one side of the cam is frayed again.
This string never even had pressure on it. Now I'm kinda pi$$ed. Take everything off the bow, I get home and call John again. I don't think he was really happy to hear from me, but he never hesitated to refund my money.
I emailed him on Saturday, and told him the strings were on the way back to him, and sent him a picture of the second string.
This was his reply...
"yeah, looks like the serving got nicked with the scissors. i got some new curved ones to avoid that. wouldn't cause any type of issue. john"
Would you have wanted either set of strings and cables on your bow? I didn't. And maybe the fraying of the serving in the loop wouldn't have caused a problem, but to me it was unnaceptable. I didn't make this post to bash the Bucknasty strings. John was a super nice guy to deal with, but I just wasn't comfortable with his product.
John has a huge following, and there are a ton of people, including some on this forum, that are 100% happy with his strings. Maybe he was just having off days when he made mine.
I just wanted my experience to be known, as I made it public that I was trying the Bucknasty strings.
