Social anxiety and loneliness

Hi, I'm a 40 yr old female, friendly and active. I have social anxiety, but am very lonely. Is it normal for someone of my age to go to a bar by myself? I loath the internet as a means to meet new people, but not sure how to go about it on my own! How do people meet new people, when they have social anxiety?

I speck there are alot of ppl. that do go in Bar's to meet other ppl. Of course some go to drink n some maybe Dance. Then others are lookin to take someone some where for the Nite to have sex. I don't think yer odd, that is the way many ppl. try to meet others. Internet is real tough to meet ppl. You don't know them at all til you meet in person. Then some times it takes yrs to really see the inside of them, or their true nature
