well my son is 10 and he is able to pull his bow set at 30 lbs. Do you think that is enough to use for hunting white tail deer. I am hopeing he can get his strength higher before the season starts , just wondering what would be the mimum he could get away with. I will make sure to use a cut on contact broadhead that dont make to big of a hole. Oh yea it is a diamond compound bow.
Here in Colorado the minimum draw weight is 35 lbs. The cut on contact is a must for that draw weight, and also a close shot with the ability to put the arrow where it needs to go. Sounds like your young man is getting close, but maybe not this season.
"So long as the new moon returns in heaven a bent, beautiful bow, so long will the fascination of archery keep hold of the hearts of men." Start of chapter 2,Marurice Thompson, 1878, The Witchery of Archery
I would recommend a heavier bow but then again it is about the distance and the broadhead. I small COC such as the Magnus stinger 85gr. would be a great head and a distance of 15 yards would be optimal. My son took some hogs when he was 8-10 with a 40# compound. No issues at all but by what I saw... I wouldn't suggest less than 35#
