From US Sportsmen's Alliance... For sportsmen, Carrie Underwood’s retread of the classic Motley Crue song “Home Sweet Home” is anything but sweet. Proceeds from her song have now found their way into the bank account of the nation’s leading anti-hunting group, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The Underwood song was a major hit after it was designated the official song to be used by the television show American Idol when contestants were voted off. When the song was chosen, Underwood indicated that part of the sales generated during the first week of the song’s release on iTunes would go to HSUS. The USSA reported on this arrangement and rallied sportsmen to express their displeasure to Underwood. That apparently fell on deaf ears. Recently, Underwood, along with a group of executives from her record label, Sony Nashville, made good on the pledge. They gave a check in the amount of $200,000 to HSUS in an act that is particularly difficult for many sportsmen to swallow given how many of them make up Underwood’s fan base. “It is sad that Ms. Underwood has used her current celebrity status to aid the group that has done more to end the traditions embraced by many of her fans than any other group,” said Bud Pidgeon, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) president and CEO. “Hopefully, when hunters, trappers and fisherman consider buying her next album, they’ll remember how she does not support them or their outdoor heritage.”

I have given a thought to this issue a few times in the past and to be honest...we are the problem. What I mean to say is this.... Where is the charity that supports hunting that also deals with the issues that the HSUS handles?
They do some good work...I would donate time and money if it wasn't for their other agendas. So instead...I give nothing for anything. Honestly....I would rather give. I am sure I am not the only one.
As hunters, we need to have our own powerful groups for charity...that dont involve hunting.

I've only got a few charities that I donate anything to. Mainly National Heart Association. They were the only organizations of anykind around and visiting with regularity when my Father had his Heart Attack, and later Open Heart Surgery. They were there every day, didn't ask for a thing, instead made SURE HE got everything he NEEDED! There are to many organizations that ask for things ... and don't show nearly what they received. Just my 2 Cents. The other charity is ... St. Jude's? I think that's it anyway. The one who takes donations to ensure that children get the care they need.

My grandfather who recently passed away had expressed his desire to have the family donate to The St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital instead of the usual flower arrangements, and such. As far as Carrie goes, she might just find out what it's like to be a Dixie Chick.

I heard she was Anti hunter a long time ago and since then will not listen to or buy her music........no matter how good she might look. Heck, she won't even wear real fur or leather!
Hopefully Toby Keith helps put her in her place and (ex)fans will gather in the streets burning her albums!

Well this now ex-fan can't burn her cd's, the pee keeps putting the fire out!,lol, lol
And as far as charity goes........I have been planning a trad 3-d shoot here at my place, I posted about it and got so overwhelmed in just 5 day we had to move it, and now will be held in conjunction with the Muddy creek archers memorial weekend at Farmland in, over the memorial day holiday, I'm sponsoring the "Ogre's Challenge" in memory of my Son Spc. Dustin Hartley, it's 150 targets over 3 days and over about 3 miles walking distance, the winner will get one of my Elk bows custom made for them, 2nd and 3rd will each get a custom knife from maker Randy Clark from Alabama........but the best part is that we're having an auction to benefit the Wounded Warriors project, with new bows and such being donated......I've built bows for a few worthy causes, but this one is very special to me because we can give back to those that have given us so much. you know freedom isn't free, someone always has to pay, and these wounded warriors have, so if you can come.. do...... if you can't you can still help us help them, we are accepting items for the auction and accepting donations too, every cent donated or made at the auction will go to the Wounded Warriors Project... every cent!
