It's 12:30 am. My alarm is set for 4 am. I will be waking up for our archery opener. I just spent the last hour and a half getting 3 live baby squirrels out of the engine compartment of my truck, which has been sitting for the past couple months. Jen was on the phone with the state animal rescue people and they think they are old enough to survive on their own. I took the nest, and the 3 live squirrels, 2 were dead, and put them in a cat carrier with the door open, at the edge ofthe woods like the animal rescue people suggested.
Now, what really has me wondering, is this....I went through all this trouble tonight, but tomorrow morning, I will be hoping to kill a deer. It kinda doesn't make sense. I will have no problem killing a deer tomorrow, but was almost in tears tonight about the squirrels. Hmmmmmmm

LOL!~Hell no! I understand that totally...think most of us do I would have brought the squirrels right in the house and raised them. I've done it a few times. One was a flying squirrel...so cool! Greg the killing machine raised a baby raccoon. I would take a snap shot at a squirrel in an instant but hit one on the road and not kill it....just leave it swirling around.....I feel awful. Just the way it is....I dont think that the majority of us are without conscious. Maybe it's the father inside that will jump to protect the weak as well as kill the strong.

Makes perfect sense to me. If I was out hunting deer and found one trapped on ice I would still try to help the deer out. If I found any animal in distress I would try help it out only to may be one day kill and eat it. That does sound strange when written down and you think about it.

No it's not strange, even after hunting deer and shooting one there is the passing regret that I get for taking it's life, won't last long but it's there, just makes me more human I think.
