Been working in Long Beach CA. but I am leaving tomorrow morning for Montana to go antelope hunting for 7 days. Then it will be back home to Alaska for moose hunting for a couple of weeks. Got the Spitfires ready for the antelope and the Stingers for moose. Now all I have to do is find some critters that will stand still.

Glad to hear that you made it to the start of another year My worst fear is that I'll make it all this way and then die a few days before the opener ;D Dont forget that camera!

Had a blast but did not mange to get a shot at any antelope. Was not able to go where we had planned due to the forest fires. So we hunted in an area that did not have quite as much broken terrain in it. Seen antelope and tried to stalk them every day a couple of times I thought that every thing was going to come together and I would be able to get a shot but it never developed. I can't even guess how much time I spent crawling on my belly trying close the distance. They are definitely a challenge to stalk. If things work out I might try to go back in the last part of September when they are rutting and hopefully the fires are out.

That sucks akdd - I didn't realize you were going for antelope already... I wish you had called ... I might have been able to point you to some better areas (depending on your tag of course). Antelope rut is generally at its peak Sept. 8-10 - they get into action in a big hurry; one day they are seperated, the next you will herds with a dominate buck, and a couple of days later you start seeing doe/buck pairs running each other all over. With out the rut and a decoy I would hunt water holes or the main trails leading to water at fence crossings. Belly crawling and stalks has been un-productive (but fun!!!) for me also.

Well headed back Montana to chase antelope again for a few days. Sounds like the fire danger went down in the area where I wanted to hunt. So hopefully will get a shot at one this time.
