Speaking of archery....what got you into it. For me.....I really cant remember anything other than someone getting me a toy crossbow as a gift when I was probably near 4yrs. old. I didnt get to keep it long but it really sparked something in me. It was some time before I got my first real bow (around 8yrs. old I believe)...a Martin Recurve I loved that bow and had it for around 14 years before getting it destroyed by my girlfriend Anyway....I have always loved archery and its hard to put into words (since there arent enough) to exspress the fun and pleasure it brings me. That got me to wondering what gets a young guy or gal into it now-a-days

:)Good topic I started hunting back when I was 10. I had shot a bow at boy scout camp,,I got my first bow about 16 years ago when Jennifer and I first got married. It was a pse and it was quite the bow. I didnt have a target so I shot 2117 into a redwood fence.I then got a pearson and stayed with pearson for years.I then got a Mathews and now I have it and the bowtech. Its all I want to hunt with now and has been for years. If I could just figure out how to shoot doves with it,,

I think my passion stemed from my father. Growing up he bow hunted. I remember him getting up real early and getting dressed to go out. I would sit at the kitchen table and watch him. I would be outside waiting for the bus and hoping that before it came I would see him walking over the hill. He didn't hunt a whole lot, but it was enough for him and enough to get me hooked. I guess I just wanted to be like him. I remember one time he finaly took me. I was all of maybe 8yrs old. well on the way to where we were doing to sit, we saw a few does. Dad wanted to get a little closer and aparently I wanted to sing. Quietly(not quietly enough) I started singing "A doe, a deer, a female deer......" well..........no meat for the freezer that day. He just laughed and I still get teased. I did go scouting and shed hunting with him often and I remember at times in my teens, it seemed liek that was the only time we saw eye to eye. Now I'm theone getting my father out there and teaching him. With some help from me, my father has taken his first 2 bucks in the past few years. I'll never forget his face when we walked up on that first buck.
So that's why I started. Now it's a passion, a way of life and just something that is truly special to me.

Goodness yes! ..... I think we all started that way Funny how... that reminder of the simpler times brings back such happiness to the heart What I do now is different than what I (as a child) dreamed of doing back then .... I never imagined that I would have had all the opportunity's that I do today.

I was 9 when i got my first bow. It was a PSE Scorpion given to me by my best friend. From the next day on I've been shooting that thing whenever I could. I had to give it up last year because I got to big!!!!!

Not sure how or why, but some friends and I were in an archery shop near my house(was 14 at the time) They had rental bows made from old recurves with wheels bolted on them. It was cheap, so we started shooting. Then I got my first bow at 15 (lay-a-way...but they let you shoot it at the range as you paid it off) THEN it was ON! THAT was 24 years ago
