Is anyone getting in shape for hunting season? I decided that I am going for caribou in '08 and maybe elk the next year. If I want to do it right i want to be in shape. I decided that this year I am going to work my butt off and get back in the shape I was 8-10yrs ago.....in high school. I limited my diet by cutting out all soda and tring to eat less and healthier food. I have also been to the gym about 5 nights a week. i do some lifting for 15minutes working on my upper body and have been alternating between 15 miles a night on a stationary bike that adds resistance to simulate hills and 5 miles a night on an elliptical that works lower and upper body and also adds hills into the routine. My cardio has never been better and I feel great! I have lost as of last nigh 20#'s in just under a month. I want to lose about 15 more and then really hit the weights. Anyone else out there looking to get in shape for a big trip or maybe just to hunt harder around local stomping grounds?

Thats what I eat as dessert!
But really. It took a little mental detication to start getting back in shape but it was not that difficult and I feel GREAT. I know I will feel even better as the weeks go by, I am still losing between 1/2 and 1 pound a day!

come on michi - corona lights??? I dont' think I could lose a pound a day for very long skip maybe 10 total would do me some good though i rund in the mornings and do some light lifting but too busy to stay in a routine! Course a steady diet of garden vegi's/Elk steak/brgr and taters don't hurt either !! I admire your results - stick with it!!

Round is a shape, right? ;D Yeah, I'm working on getting back in good shape too. Where I'm bowhunting this fall is gonna take some foot and leg work to get back into but I hope it's gonna be well worth it. I've been riding the bike on scouting trips and doing a lot of hiking as well as jogging in the mornings. Other than that, I lift weights every other day or whenever I can. I don't think I'm getting up to Montana this year but in 2008 I'm definitely going and will have to be in top notch shape when I go so I'm starting now too. Gotta hydrate properly though with some Coors Lights and Wild Turkey every now and then though...
