It's something with John and this particular piece of property. He's gotten 3 shots at deer from this stand. I've hunted this piecea bunch of times in the past few years and rarely even see deer. This stand is in an absolute horrible location. There's no cover. You can be spotted from quite a distance in any direction. Right place, right time, I guess. Congrats on your first clean kill.

This is only my second bowkill. My first required a follow up shot. A little history of this stand. In 2004 I first started hunting here, and got my first shot ever with a bow. I choked, and gut shot a doe. After the bad shot, I think I did everything right. Gave her 7 hours and came back. The coyotes had demolished her already. 2 years ago, I shot at a doe, downhill, behind the stand. I shot her for 30 yards, and she was only about 23. Hit her high, above the spine. Watched her for over an hour, and tracked her till the blood stopped. Almost positive it wasn't a fatal wound. She acted like nothing was wrong, except she kept licking at the spot. I have seen more deer from this stand, then any 3 stand combined that I have hunted. But, I can't tell you how many times, I have had deer in range, and not been able to draw. It's a terrible stand, but a great piece of property. About the only possible place to put a stand though.
