who says Spitfires don't leave good entrance wound! This girl came in slightly quartering toward me at 23yds. I wasn't sure about the shot and we waited 5hours to take up trail. she piled up just out of sight from where I saw her disapear. I took out 1 lung and guts, she made it 120yds and lived 3 minutes or so.

Congrats, Greg! I've had nothing but good luck with the Spitfires also.

I don't think that a 12 gauge slug would have made a larger entrance wound..congrats on another deer skip..

Capital! How was the blood trail on that angle of shot? Did the exit plug up at all?

Not typical of a spitfire but believable none the less. Thanks Greg

Nice shootin Skip! Was just curious, Do you think there's a possibility that the head opened mid flight? Just looks like the blades were fully open upon hitting the deer.Your thoughts? Ster

There is no way the head opened in flight. It's pretty much impossible on Spitfires and the shot would have been way off. The deer was quartering towards me at a 30 degree angle or so and the exit was in the guts, which were hanging out of the hole and plugging it up. we had enough blood to follow but not a whole lot. I believe the hole was so big because of the angle and the fact that the skin is pulled tight in that area.
